water stain on ceiling

There's a yellow-brown water stain spreading across the ceiling, right above the corner of the room. It looks like a slow leak from the roof, maybe from last week's heavy rain. The edges are starting to crack and bubble the paint, and the stain itself is about the size of a dinner plate, with a darker center that makes me worry the damage might go deeper than just the surface.
